Tips for pitching

Having listened to hundreds of startup pitches himself, Dan Kranzler shares a few professional pitching tips

  • It’s not about you––it’s about what your audience wants.
  • Sell the problem first; convince your audience that it is worth solving.
  • Prioritise what is most exciting about your startup: Traction? Team? Tech? Vision?
  • Avoid buzzwords; explain everything simply.
  • Keep your Pitch deck clean, visually appealing. People often like Guy Kawasaki’s 30-20-10 rule: 10 slides, 20 minutes (this time, we’ll stick to 5-8 minutes), 30 pt font
  • A clean pitch deck looks entrepreneurial!
  • Be the doctor! (Be calm, confident and know your stuff)
